HE’S climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, swum the Irish Sea and run a couple of marathons in the UK.

The X Factor judge Ronan Keating’s latest physical challenge came with the Tough Mudder endurance course in Sydney.

And his late mum, Marie, who died from breast cancer in 1998, was with him every step of the way.

” I’m doing it on behalf of my mum I suppose,” Keating told The Sunday Telegraph before starting the heavy duty course with girlfriend Storm Uechtritz yesterday morning.

“I do all of these things with that vision and it gets me to the finish line always.”

More than 12,000 people are expected to complete the Tough Mudder challenge at Sydney’s Eastern Creek this weekend.

The 20 kilometre course features numerous obstacles, including walk the plank, trench warfare, mud mile, warrior carry, electroshock therapy, cage crawl and water logged.

“It’s unbelievable. I’m ready to go again,” Keating, 36, said after completing the course in two hours and 34 minutes.

“Next year we are coming back, it’s an amazing buzz.”

Uechtritz, who met the singer when the pair worked together on the X Factor, was thrilled with their efforts with little preparation.

“I’m just happy to cross the finish line,” she said. “We had the best of intentions when we enlisted but we’ve been so busy since we touched down in Australia we haven’t had a chance to do any training.”

Legacy is the official charity of the event, which is held again today, and Keating also raised funds for the Cancer Council of Australia.

He and Uechtritz signed up to the challenge six months ago.

“We’ve had a lot of time not to prepare,” he joked.

“I’ve done some heavy endurance things but never anything like this in a short space of time. I love getting down and dirty. I love stuff like this.”
